Miley Cyrus Sculpture

I'm David Grigorian, the artist and sculptor. On March 4th, 2014 I attended Miley Cyrus, Bangerz, concert at Pepsi Center. I took dozens of pictures at the concert for my at project. I was planning to arrange these photos on my sculpture like a collage. I bought two twenty five pounds of high fired clay at the Leaft Pottery store. I made a hollow sculpture of about 9”X11 1/2”X16” and around forty five pounds. After the sculpture was baked back at the Leaf Pottery place, I painted it and glued t
he photos. I used glitter to make it sparkly and fancy. This eyeball shaped sculpture is my final offering to my idol, Miley Cyrus.

I liked the Hannah Montana show where Miley played a role of someone who lived in both worlds. Ordinary girl by day, and a super star by night. I could see myself in that situation of living in both worlds. I'm an artist and a child inside, and an adult on the outside. A lot of times my inner child and my adult side are in conflict, but that is for another story and time. Miley was singing since childhood, and I was already a visual artist as a young boy. I like that she is so committed and passionate about her art, as I'm about mine

I also love her new persona, looks, and songs. Hannah Montana was a little girl, and she was twenty one at the time I was building the sculpture. I understand and respect that. She grew up and so did her art. My art is very different from what it was when I was fifteen or eight. As I grew, I gained more skills, more perspective, and resources. This enables my art to grow and mature just as I did. I never wore feathers in my entire childhood, but now I do wear feathers in my hair almost everyday. When I was Hannah's age, I never paid attention to girls. Now I listed to her songs of broken hearts and burst to tears. Hannah Montata was a delicate caterpillar. Now she is Miley Cyrus, the glamorous butterfly.
